Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Cede (pronounced Seed) began in 2009 with a group of musicians and singers meeting and rehearsing in a small recording studio in the East Bay Area. They soon started receiving invitations to perform at various churches and music festivals, including Spirit West Coast in Monterey.

Over the next few years, with their final lineup in place and a catalog of original songs, Cede headed into recording studios in Santa Cruz and San Francisco and set to work on their first album, New Beginnings. Four tracks from that album received extensive radio play in markets across the country. Two follow-up songs, "The Great Reunion" and "Not My Own", were honored with Top 10 spots by CCM International. 

The members of Cede have performed and recorded with many well-known artists such as Coldplay, John Popper (Blues Traveler), America,

Chubby Checker, and others.
